Whilst occupying a prime site on Auckland's Waterfront, 205 Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay was looking tired and well in need of refurbishment.
The original structure was solid poured concrete inside lightweight concrete formwork which had been decorated with brick slips. Over the years, the steel mesh reinforcing in the formwork had begun to rust and was blowing the brick slips off the walls.
Allied Exteriors was engaged to remove the existing brick slips and formwork, straighten the walls, install a Sto Plaster System on 60mm Neopor Insulation Board, install new double glazed joinery and a new coloursteel roof. The Sto Armat Plaster System was selected because of its superior performance in marine environments and lower maintenance cycle costs. By insulating the exterior of the building, the internal environment benefits from the thermal mass of the concrete structure in providing a very stable and cost effective temperature control.
In addition to the significant insulation upgrade, the new joinery and Sto Armat Plaster System transformed the appearance of the building allowing it to now sits proudly in one of Auckland's most desirable residential locations.
